Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #1 Last nights movie was Captain America: The First Avenger starring Chris Evans and Tommy Lee Jones.
*(Just so you know, Ive already seen Iron Man I, II, and III as well as Black Panther. Those reviews will be exclusively on billydisaster.com in due time. Every other MCU flick will be a fresh take as Ive never seen them.). I’m putting my cape on. Here we go!
Captain America. I couldn’t quite tell, was this a propaganda film? Was it a parody of propaganda films? Or was it just made into the style of a propaganda film? Whatever the case, it worked. I now wanna enlist in the military, get pumped up with military grade steroids, and go annihilate Nazis. Just like Steve Rogers.
Whenever Tommy Lee Jones is in a movie, I watch it. He’s one of my favorites and even though this role isn’t his flagship, he was still awesome. He was perfect as the Colonel.
The other perfectly cast actor was Toby Jones as Dr. Zola. He doesn’t even need a mask to play a role in a super hero movie. It’s like the guy was created by god to play roles like these with his big ass forehead.
Since I’m a 48 year old dad and teacher, I’m lucky to have my teenage kids and my students to guide me along these MCU flicks. It really made me enjoy this to the max. My favorite detail was the weapons. I love the guns that fire the Tesseract fueled lasers and I REALLY love CA’s shield! It made me wanna be him for Halloween this year. And Schmidt’s car? I want that car right now!
I liked that this was set mostly in the 40’s. And I liked that they kept the cheesy cliches that I was expecting to a minimum. 4 Super Heros for Captain America: The First Avenger 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonight’s movie will be Thor. ♥️You. billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #Marvel #MCU #CaptainAmerica #tommyleejones

Marvel flicks with Billy disaster #2 Last nights movie was Thor, starring Chris hemsworth, Tom hiddleston, and Natalie Portman.
This movie had the difficult task of world building the 9 realms and it was very boring to watch. Thor is really arrogant and annoying to watch in this movie. Loki is the only good character in this movie. Anything on Asgard is boring and hard to watch.
The saving grace of this movie is earth. Jane foster and Thor’s adventures on earth are fun, and easy to follow.
2 superhero’s for Thor 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️ Tonight’s movie will be The Avengers Billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #MCU #Marvel #thor
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #3 . Last nights movie was The Avengers starring Robert Downy Jr. and Scarlett Johansson.
If Donald Trump and Charles Manson had a romantic evening with wine, candles, maybe some some Billie Holiday playing in the background, and things got a little kinky…got knocked up and had a baby boy, that baby would be Loki (Tom Hiddleston). What Loki wants is power over everything and his ego stroked. He’s a great villain.
There were quite a few great characters in this flick including Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffaloe), Nick Fury (Bad Mother Fuckin Sam L. Jackson), and Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Johansson)
However, not everyone in this movie is as cool as the others…Captain America is an uptight, rule following goody 2 shoe bore with no sense of humor. His shield is rad but his personality blows. And tell me if I’m wrong, I don’t think Black Widow and Hawkeye are really super heros..
Thank god for Iron Man (Downy Jr). He saved this flick from being a lame fest. His comedic timing is so good and often imitated that its iconic. In a film full of star power, none shines brighter that Downy Jr.
I actually had a lot of popcorn fun watching this. Although the final battle in Manhattan was over the top ridiculous. In an age where super hero flicks have become so popular due to clever story telling that explains the unexplainable, the dragon army was just video game action that had no substance or grit.
Even so, this series has been fun so far as well as this movie. 3 Super Heros for The Avengers 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonight’s movie will be Thor: The Dark World. ♥️You. Billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #mcu #marvel #marvelstudios #theavengers
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #4. Last nights movie was Thor: The Dark World starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman.
What is it with Natalie Portman taking stupid roles in terrible movies? (Her role in the Star Wars movies was fucking awful🤢)…There’s a scene where Thor and Jane (Portman) are talking in the streets… Jane: “Where were you? I was waiting and I was crying and blah blah blah” Thor: “I know but wars were raging, marauders were pillaging. I had to put an end to the slaughter.” Jane: “As excuses go, its not terrrible”🤮…That dialogue is maybe the worst I’ve ever heard. How do these writers get away with shit like this? I puked so hard that I threw out my back and sprained my knee.
I know that by doing this series that I’m gonna have to get used to movies made with 99% CGI and that’s fine, there is a ton of great artwork in this flick. Too bad it was wasted on such a shitty one.
The best part about this movie was the deep sleep I got taking a nap halfway through. It was like getting on a plane in seattle, closing eyes and waking up in Chicago. I was grateful that I missed a lot of this one. 1 Super Hero for Thor: The Dark World 🦸🏽♀️. Tonight’s movie will be Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Please let it be better than Thor! Please! ♥️You billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #mcu #thor #marvel #marvelstudios
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #5 . Last nights movie was Captain America: The Winter Soldier starring Robert Redford and Scarlett Johansson.
Having barely recovered from watching Thor: The Dark World yesterday, I wasn’t exactly excited about this flick. But I was supremely blown away by it as it kicked the living shit out of Thor: TDW. Thank god.
And thank you Russo Bros as well as the screenplay writers, Christopher Marcus and Stephan McFealy for showing those Thor creators how it’s done.
The things that I loved…The decision to cast Robert Redford as Secretary Pierce was perfectly perfect. He’s generationally such a great actor and this role was a solid addition to his resume. He was awesome.
Next were the action sequences. My favorite being the attack on Fury’s SUV. The tension, suspense, and execution of the scene was military grade and had, not only a thrilling impact, but an emotional one. And the introduction of The Winter Soldier presented a real danger that made this movie the real deal.
Every character was well played and memorable (with perhaps the exception of Steve Rogers himself who I find boring with hardly any personality. I love Captain America when he’s not talking.
The only thing I didn’t like was the editing of the action scenes. I became a fan of the John Wick flicks because of the editing of the action scenes. They were long shots that showed off the talent of the stunt choreography and it spoiled me into wishing all action movie film makers edited theirs like them. The fast editing trend has got to go. But I’m nit-picking…
It would be wrong of me not to mention how bad ass The Winter soldier is. Same goes for Black Widow and Falcon. I also need to propose a toast to the stunning sound design that intertwined with the music. It was top shelf. 5 Super Heros for Captain America: The Winter Soldier 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonight’s movie will be Guardians of the Galaxy. ♥️You Billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #mcu #marvel #marvelstudios
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #6 . Last nights movie was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 starring Chris Pratt and Vin Diesel.
At first I was like “Oh no! This movie is so sad!” That opening scene was truly heartbreaking.
And then I was like “Jesus Christ what a killer cast!” Glenn Close? John C. Reilly? Benicio Del Toro? The list goes on.
And THEN I was like “Who was the genius in charge of this soundtrack?!” . One great song after another.
This flick was funny as hell. Almost like a Deadpool for kids with some pretty damn adult humor…”If I had a black light…this place would look like a Jackson Pollock painting.”!!! LOFL! The comedy in this was so well timed, sometimes subtle, (a prosthetic leg joke!..El Oh El), and expertly written and performed.
There was one great character after another. I particularly loved Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker). He was like a villain straight from an old western with some bad ass dialogue. And Rocket the raccoon (Bradley Cooper) had me rolling on the ground clutching my stomach . OH! And the best decision the filmmakers made was keeping Vin Diesel’s lines to basically 2 words. (Which seems to be about the extent of Diesel’s vocabulary anyway. I hate Vin Diesel).
Anyway, I had a blast watching this flick. And I appreciate the fact that “no raccoons or tree creatures were harmed during the making of this film:)”. 4 Super Heros for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️ . Tonights movie will be Avengers: Age of Ultron. ♥️You billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #mcu #marvel #marvelstudios
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #7. Last nights movie was Avengers: Age of Ultron starring Sam “Bad Mother Fucker” L. Jackson and Elizabeth Olsen♥️.
Who is your favorite Avenger and why? I’m truly interested. Who’s your least favorite?
I’m having trouble deciding who my favorite Avenger is. It started out being Iron Man because Downy Jr. is so great. However, after watching this, Wanda Maximoff and Hulk are making a play at taking over.
I’m loving Wanda because she seems vulnerable and powerful at the same time and her super power is unique. She’s also smokin hot in a cool goth way and has a chance at becoming my next Celebrtity Girlfriend.
But Hulk is also making a play at #1 . The vulnerable/powerful element is there as well and the fact that he can’t speak and say a bunch of stupid, chessy one liners earns him extra credit.
It’s definitely not the no fun/goody 2 shoe Captain America (My son’s favorite). At the very beginning of this flick, he wastes no time being lame by trying to temper Iron Man’s language. He’s like the Karen of Super Heros.
I was worried about watching this flick as a lot of people warned me about it. There’s no question that it suffers from some super cringy dialogue and over use of CGI and fast edits. However, I enjoyed this one a lot. The story of how Stark created a world saving machine gone wrong had a ton of social and political commentary. And even though the action scenes were too video gamey, they were still thrilling and gave increased credibilty to Hulk as well as Thor.
But the highlight of this was the introduction of Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. (My son tells me that Pietro is from X-Men and I’m now stoked to get into Wandavision). Their super powers and demeanor were really compelling and I want to see more of them. I found myself really caring about them.
The cool characters and action mixed with shitty dialogue equals 3 Super Heros for Avengers: Age of Ultron 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonights movie will be Ant-Man. ♥️You billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #mcu #marvel #marvelstudios #avengersageofultron
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #8 . Last nights movie was Ant-Man starring Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly♥️.
You guys, I fucking LOVED this flick! I loved it for what it was, and I loved it for what it wasn’t.
What it was, was part “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”, part “Mission Impossible”, part “Avengers”, and even part “Toy Story”. The creativity mixed with it’s humor and special effects was damn near perfect. It was never confusing due to the excellent pace and story telling and was full blast entertainment.
What it wasn’t was too cheesy and cliche ridden. As much as many ingredients are reminiscent of other movies, this one was clever enough to stand on it’s own.
The perfectly casted characters with Douglas, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Corey Stoll as Yellowjacket and Lilly as Hope were all performed so well. Evangeline Lilly is definatley Celebrity Girlfriend material but she is WAY out of my league.
My favorite scene was in the little girl, Cassie’s (Abby Ryder Fortson) room where Ant-Man and Yellowjacket face off in a terrific “Toy Story” setting with some super awesome and unique action with a series of comedic punches thrown.
Cheers to the side characters including T.I., Bobby Cannavale, and Michael Peña who all had their own shining moments. 5 Super Heros for Ant-Man 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #9 . Last nights movie was Captain America: Civil War starring Roger from Mad Men.
**WARNING** IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THIS MOVIE, PLEASE DON’T READ THIS REVIEW! I am about to shit all over it. Here it goes…
This flick made me so mad that Marvel should make a movie called Billy Disaster: The Pissed Off Movie Reviewer. I’m gonna go down the list.
#1 The fact that the Avengers get in trouble for causing so much destruction without any blame put on the protagonists is maddening. That being said, Cap doesn’t feel as if the Avengers should be accountable for anything. Which brings us to…
#2 Captain America doesn’t want anyone telling him what to do. Ever. Does he want to be an all powerful dictator? Sounds like the enemy to me.
#3 How did the Russo Bros think it was a good decision to make Iron Man a dull and boring character in this? The only time he gives us his incredible charisma is when he’s in Spider Man’s room talking him into joining the fight.
#4 Speaking of boring…There were way to many long and sluggish scenes in this. I realize that a story needs to be established but in the end, the story was almost totally pointless anyway.
#5 All we really learn is that the super dull Cap Mercia is an asshole that is put in the position of leadership, but fucks everything up and divides his team. And Iron Man had every right to be pissed about the situation with his mother. I guess we’re just supposed to let it all go with a 5 second apology at the end. Which just proved how pointless this story was in the first place.
#6 Where in the hell was Hulk, Thor, Fury and Pepper? I know their absence is explained, but those characters make these MCU flicks better. And what?? Sharon Carter can also fight like she’s Bruce Lee? I guess everyone can.
#7 The camera work and editing in the action scenes was confusing and disjointed (just like this review).
Wanda was hot, but it didn’t save this pile of shit from getting 1 Super Hero 🦸🏽♀️. Tonight’s movie will be Doctor Strange. ♥️You. (Except you Captain America) billydisaster.com #moviereview #mcu #marvel
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #10 . Last nights movie was Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton.
One of the brightest stars in this flick was the music by Michael Giacchino. It wasn’t the normal thematic style of composition, but a more emotional and musical work that stood out on its own. I really loved the music.
The other shining star was the artwork within the special effects. It’s like the art director said to their crew…”Let’s do a bunch of acid, mix it with some psychedelic mushrooms, trip out on some M.C. Escher and get to work!”. The trippy visuals were so beautiful and creative that I would love to watch this movie with the volume down and the soundtrack on full blast.
I also love Tilda Swinton. She doesn’t even need to speak to convey wisdom, danger and authority.
And Doctor Strange is a good character and I had fun watching this movie. However I had a problem with the poor attempts at the ill timed and cheap humor. Here’s my main issue…Ever since Iron Man came out, it seems everyone is doing a comedic impression of Robert Downey Jr.. And it’s not just in this flick, it’s everywhere and it drives me crazy. It’s like when Alice In Chains became popular and every other singer started singing like Layne Staley. I hate unoriginal copy catting.
I recognize that this movie was primarily a character development opus for future chapters (I assume) and so I won’t be too critical of the ankle deep storytelling. For me this is pretty middle of the road in the MCU series. But the visuals and the amazing music give this some extra credit. 3 Super Heros for Doctor Strange 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonight’s movie will be Spider-Man: Homecoming. Happy Father’a Day! ♥️You Billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #mcu #marvel #doctorstrange #marvelstudios
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #11 . Last nights movie was Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Jon Favreau and Michael Keaton.
It’s official, my favorite person in all of Hollywood is Jon Favreau. It’s amazing that this dude directed Elf, Iron Man I and II, produced The Mandalorian as well as played my favorite character in this flick (Happy Hogan). He is a lovable and funny genius and I hope he gets a shot at directing a full Star Wars movie someday.
I had such a blast watching this flick. It kind of had a John Hughes feel to it where the coming of age story had that great, care-free vibe. Tom Holland plays a great Peter Parker and Michael Keaton is terrific (as always) as the villain (Vulture). His twist towards the end made my heart sink.
One of my favorite characters was Peter’s homie Ned (Jacob Batalon) who fit perfectly as the guy in the middle of Peter’s double life as a nerdish high school kid and super hero. His innocent charm was innocently charming and his enthusiastic fascination with Peter’s secret spoke for all of us.
The overall craft of this flick was an awesome combination of well edited special effects and great comedic timing with entertaining story to go along with it. Even Mrs. Disaster loved it. 5 Super Heros for Spider-Man: Homecoming 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonight’s movie will be Thor: Ragnarok. ♥️You billydisaster.com #mcu #marvel #marvelstudios @marvel @marvelstudios
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #12 . Last nights movie was Thor: Ragnarok starring Cate Blanchett♥️ and Jeff Goldblum.
I was really looking forward to this flick as so many of you told me it was your favorite or close to it. And, for the most part, it didn’t disappoint.
I’ll start with the comedy. The 1st half or so was comedy in the spirit of Monty Python and was done so very well. (Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Korg. I’m kind of the leader in here. I’m made of rocks, as you can see, but don’t let that intimidate you. You don’t need to be afraid, unless you’re made of scissors…Just a little ‘Rock, Paper Scissors joke for you’”:)…much of the gags in this movie were Princess Bride grade. The screenplay writers (Eric Pearson, Craig Kyle, and Chris L. Host) must of had a drunken blast writing this.
Speaking of alcoholism. How awesome (and beautiful) is Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie? That girl is FINE. And her intro was hilarious!
As much fun as I had watching this flick, I have a few issues. 1st of all, I recognize that Loki is a fan favorite. But I’m having trouble grasping his celebrated appeal. (Keep in mind that I have yet to finish this series). He’s cool and all but I’m not seeing him as a stand out character. He doesn’t have the charisma of, say Jeff Goldblum in this (who was awesome!). Nor does he have a very compelling story like Iron Man or Spider-Man. Perhaps he gets more interesting later in the series? Help me out.
The other issue I have is characters that seem to have almost unlimited super powers that are only explained by mysticism. It’s just a stretch for me. The fact that Hela (Blanchett) can produce swords and knives out of thin air at will goes too far and is no where near as interesting as those with super powers that are better explained or invented. Although I do love Dr. Strange’s ability to create unlimited beer. That’s pretty damn cool.
Another cool thing about this flick is the music by Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO).
4 Super Heros for Thor: Ragnarok 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonight's movie will be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. ♥️You billydisaster.com #mcu #marvel #marveluniverse
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #13 . Last nights movie was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 starring Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell.
If I were 12 years old, I probably would have loved the shit out of this flick. It’s almost like it was written by a 12 year old who sat down with a 2 liter of Mountain Dew, a collection of Marvel comics, and 4 huge lines of pixie stix dust to snort.
But I’m not 12. (I’m 48). And so I didn’t get to appreciate this in the best way. If fact I didn’t really dig it at all. I loved GOTG Vol.1. I thought the humor was great and it was rad to get to know the cast of characters. However, in Vol 2., the jokes seemed forced and and the characters kind of lost some of their appeal. You know there’s trouble in a movie when Vin Diesel is the best character.
The special effects were another issue I had. The green screen action was almost as bad as Revenge of the Sith. It was a mess.
It’s too bad. The opening scene in the 70’s was so promising. Perhaps I just wasn’t in the mood. Oh well.
I will say that I loved the soundtrack a lot. In fact I listened to Quill’s Awesome Mix Vol.2 today. But still…2 Super Heros for Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 2 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonights movie be Avengers: Infinity War. ♥️You
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #14 . Last nights movie was Avengers: Infinity War starring Chris Hemsworth and Josh Brolin.
Where GOTG2 (MFWBD#13) was like a Backstreet Boys song, this flick was like a Metallica song from Master of Puppets where the Russo Bros decided to quit fucking around and get down to business.
The best thing about this for me was the pacing of the story telling. It was foreshadowed with patience with truly effective payoffs. And there were a lot of them.
In a gigantic cast, no character stood out for me more than Ebony Maw (Tom Vaughn-Lawlor). His short lived character had some really cool force like super powers and I loved his evil demeanor. Too bad he died so soon.
The heavy moments in the final act were supremely emotional. The promise between Wanda and Vision was severely tragic and the demise of half so many Avengers had me almost hyperventilating.
The fact that I got to watch this with my 15 year old son (Super Nerd:) made this flick even more enjoyable. 5 Super Heros for Avengers: Infinity War 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonight’s movie will be Ant Man and the Wasp. ♥️You billydisaster.com #MCU #Marvel #avengers #moviereview #moviereviews
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #15 . Last nights movie was Ant-Man and the Wasp starring Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer.
I know that I am probably in the 1% of the 1% here, but this flick is definitely in my top 3 MCU flicks so far. I loved it.
I guess I’m developing a taste for the super heros who are more aloof and not the alpha. I’m trending more toward Spider-Man and Ant Man and more away from Cap. America and Thor. (Although Iron Man is still my #1).
Anyhoo…speaking of favorites, in a movie chalk full of funny characters with some great lines, I thought the shining star was Ant-Man’s daughter Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson). She has such a terrific youthful innocence with a mischievous twinkle in her eye and her comedic delivery was spot on. “The Worlds Greatest Grandma” gag got me every time.
In fact, everyone had a really great comedic performance in this (except Evangeline Lilly and ‘Ghost’ Hannah John-Kamen who were’t supposed to be funny but were still excellent). Paul Rudd and Michael Pēna are so comedically talented that they deserve some bonuses. And after seeing Michael Douglas in so many dramatic roles throughout my life, I had no Idea he could be so funny. His humor was so subtle that it was masterful.
Another thing I love about both Ant-Man movies is the super powers involved are so clever. The ability to shrink and blow back up to regular size and even larger is so fun with seemingly limited possibilities which this movie exploits really well. It also features one of the best car chase scenes I’ve seen in quite a while.
Apologies to all of the GOTG2 lovers out there (MFWBD#13), but the Ant-Man flicks kicks the shit out of GOTG2 in the comedy department. The jokes in the Ant-Mans are so well delivered and unforced. I think I might just watch it again right now. 5 Super Heros for Ant-Man and the Wasp 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonights movie will be Captain Marvel. ♥️You billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #mcu @marvel @marvelstudios
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #16 . Last nights movie was Captain Marvel starring Sam “Bad Mother Fucker” L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn.
I had been warned about this movie as being one of the weaker ones in the MCU and so I went into it with a bad attitude. However I really had fun with it. (Kinda).
The best thing about it is that Fury (Jackson) is in it so much. He is definitely one of the most entertaining actors of my generation. A lot of reviewers like to point out that his chemistry with Brie Larson was a highlight, but I disagree. Their chemistry was average at best. What really stood out was his chemistry with Goose the cat who was sometimes played by a real cat and sometimes with a puppet due to Larson’s allergies.
Another favorite actor of mine is Ben Mendelsohn. He’s great in every role he plays and he is by far the pro’s pro in this flick. He pretty much blows everyone else away with his acting skills in this. Especially Brie Larson. She was the weak link with a stiff and uncharismatic performance. It’s too bad as such a big deal was made about Captain Marvel being a woman as the most powerful super hero in the MCU. There are so many actors that could have done this character much more justice.
There were a couple of really good action scenes in this flick. One being the fight scene on the train (with the old lady!), and another being the dogfight in the canyons.
The nostolgic details were fun including the payphone (do my kids even know what a payphone is?), the music and The Fonz lunch box.
I certainly fall into the catagory of prefering the more earthly super powers of Iron Man and Ant-Man etc. as opposed to the more godly or goddessly style powers. Cap Marvels powers are just too much and uninterestng with out the ability to malfunction.
I’ll probably never watch this again but I’ll still give it 3 Super Heros 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonight’s movie will be Avengers: EndGame. ♥️You billydisaster.com @marvel @marvelstudios #moviereview #moviereviews @captainmarvelofficial
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #17 . Last Nights movie was Avengers: Endgame starring Robert Downey Jr. And Chris Evans.
The thing that stood out the most in this was the emotional impact it had on me. I fucking cried like 3 times! What made the emotion of this flick so effective was the performances by just about everyone in the enormous cast. It was really impressive. One of my least favorite super heros is Hawkeye but I love Clint Barton because of Jeremy Renner. I even liked Captain “no fun” America. Kinda.
I love time travel flicks and its always fun to try to analyze a movie’s take on it. With Endgame, they kept it pretty simple while cleverly employing a few popular “time travel” elements. When Nebula had to confront herself from another time, we’ll, thats one of the times I cried.
The death of Iron Man hit me hard. I might actually have to watch the OG Iron Man tonight to ease the pain.
The necessary fan service in the final battle scene was a bit much. I will just never get into super heros who’s power is to shoot lights and lasers and lighting and shit like that out of their hands. I like my super powers to be more organic.
Even so, this movie was pretty rad. 4 Super Heros for Avengers: Endgame 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️. Tonghts movie will be Spider-Man: Far from Home. ♥️You Billydisaster.com #moviereview #moviereviews #MCU #marvel #marvelstudios
Marvel Flicks With Billy Disaster #18 . Last nights movie was Spider-Man: Far From Home starring Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal.
I was really looking forward to this one because the last 2 Spider-Man flicks I’ve seen were so great. Homecoming was a super well done and charming adventure and Into the Spider-Verse was a fucking masterpiece. But this one kind of let me down.
The Good: The 2nd half was actually pretty awesome. The special effects that come out of Mysterio’s drones were incredibly artistic and trippy. The action in Berlin and London had everything I love about the chaotic and destructive themes of the MCU flicks. Oh! And I love Happy:)
The Bad: The acting was mediocre at best. Gyllenhaal seemed out of place as the villain and his delivery was sometimes embarrassing. I think he’s the worst villain in the MCU. Another major disappointment was Sam L. Jackson. This is the 1st time I’ve ever been disappointed in him. He looked like he was just mailing it in and collecting a paycheck. Was he reading from cue cards during all of his scenes?
The Ugly: For the entire 1st half and much of the non action scenes, I felt like I was watching a pre-teen after school sit-com. It was, at times, so cringy that I almost canceled my Disney+ subscription. It was a groan fest. 2 Super Heros for Spider-Man: Far from Home 🦸🏽♀️🦸🏽♀️.
